Am 15. Oktober kam die mehr als irritierende Meldung, dass der kenianische Verband (Athletics Kenya) f\u00fcr die kenianischen Marathonl\u00e4ufer Ausscheidungen (Trials) f\u00fcr die Pl\u00e4tze im Olympiateam des Landes am 14. Februar 2016 veranstalten wollte. Diese mehr als unsinnige Entscheidung h\u00e4tte zur Folge gehabt, dass die Fr\u00fchjahrsmarathons von London bis Rotterdam ma\u00dfgeblich betroffen worden w\u00e4ren, aber vor allem auch die Athleten selbst, die dann dort keine Preisgelder h\u00e4tten verdienen k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n

Nun kam im Rahmen einer Presseerkl\u00e4rung Entwarnung, mit der sich alles aufkl\u00e4rt. April, April … und London bekommt seine Kenianer und die bekommen ihr (Preis-)Gelder.<\/p>\n

2016 OLYMPIC MARATHON TEAM.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Following consultations with athletes, coaches and other stakeholders regarding the selection of the marathon Team to represent Kenya during the for 2016 Olympic Games. The selection of the athletes\u00a0 will be based on performances and results achieved at the following competition:<\/p>\n

  1. IAAF World Championships 2015.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Tokyo Marathon 2015\/2016.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. London Marathon 2015\/2016.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. Berlin Marathon 2015.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  5. Chicago Marathon 2015.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  6. New York Marathon 2015.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  7. Any other marathon in 2015 and not later than 30th<\/sup>April, 2016.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The athletes selected will be announced on 1st<\/sup> May, 2016 and thereafter will be informed when and where to go for residential training camp in preparation for the Olympic Games.<\/p>\n
